Final Cue list
1942 HITS ARCHIVE_ Be Careful Its My Heart - Bing Crosby
For the Preshow/ walk in music I decided that I wanted the audience to hear what Arty and Jay might have listened to as popular music of the time.
NYC city sounds w horn
To set the scene for Grandma Kurnitz's apartment in Yonkers, I built a cityscape to play under the opening scene of the play.
Steam Locomotive Whistles
While Eddy's part is written as a voiceover, for this rendition the director and I decided that the character would be on stage for his parts. As a result, I used train sounds to indicate he was writing the post cards on the go.
Frank Sinatra & The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra - 'Imagination'
We tuck into some deeper emotions during Act Two, one of which is when Bella and Grandma argue about Bella's life and her mental conditions. For that, I chose some more somber music.
Begin the Beguine
For act two we are focused less on the post cards that Eddy is writing and more on Arty and Jay's experience with Grandma Kurnitz. As a result, I chose music for these transitions.
Be Careful Its My Heart - Bing Crosby
To end the play, we hear what I call "Bella's Song". It is a song that perfectly encapsulates what the play teaches us as an audience.
